About the course
BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Nursing course is especially developed to promote the enhancement of contemporary nursing knowledge through the study of scientific and humanistic literature. The core modules are aimed at enhancing the intellectual skills of reflection and critical thinking as well as promoting professional practice and roles. This course offers qualified practising nurses the opportunity to study modules and qualify at degree level. The modules include clinical and /or professional practice-related inquiry methods, allowing you to engage in clinical and/or healthcare practice development. You will engage in professionally relevant work based/practice based enquiry and project work leading to personal and/or organisational professional practice development. Upon completion of the course you will be able to work with members of a healthcare team to identify professional /clinical / workplace nursing practice and service development opportunities and design and develop work based projects aimed at improving and developing clinical /professional/work place nursing practice. You will also be able to gather evidence and information and coherently construct and communicate a persuasive argument to healthcare colleagues and academic staff in support of a specific service or professional practice development or change.Your studies are supported by brand new state-of-the-art facilities, including nursing skills labs, professional training equipment and a separate building set up to deliver a range of high-fidelity simulations in areas such as resuscitation and dealing with seriously ill patients. Graduates would be able to critically analyse factors that influence the efficacy of managerial functions in health care settings. We understand that it is important for graduates to be able to demonstrate the ability to implement health promotion initiatives in practice.
